The Newsroom, a crash-course in journalism

Created by Aaron Sorkin, the genius behind The West Wing, this HBO series takes you straight into the chaotic control room of a fictional cable news network. It is anchored by a career-defining performance from Jeff Daniels as Will McAvoy, a popular, play-it-safe news anchor who is forced to completely blow up his comfortable career. The whole show kicks off with Will having a massive, brutally honest public meltdown about why America is no longer the greatest country in the […]

Electric Dreams, imagined by Philip K. Dick

If you are a fan of mind-bending science fiction anthologies but feel like you have already watched everything out there, Electric Dreams is a fantastic trip worth taking. Based on the short stories of the legendary Philip K. Dick, this series often gets compared to shows like Black Mirror, but it definitely brings its own unique flavor to the table. Instead of just focusing on the terrifying, dark aspects of modern technology, it leans heavily into classic, retro-futuristic sci-fi concepts, […]

Counterpart, the story about you and your other self

Counterpart is one of those hidden gems that totally flies under the radar but hooks you from the very first episode. The series drops you right into a gloomy, atmospheric Berlin and stars the incredibly talented J.K. Simmons, who pulls off a masterclass in acting that anchors the entire weird, brilliant concept. Spoiler alert: the show has been cancelled, so you have only two seasons to enjoy it. The story follows Howard Silk, a low-level, completely ordinary bureaucrat working for […]

November – A chilling Estonian story

November is a striking Estonian black-and-white fantasy drama directed by Rainer Sarnet. Set in a remote 19th-century village, the film drops viewers into a world where folklore is as real as everyday life. Spirits wander through forests, strange magical creatures serve farmers, and superstition influences nearly every decision people make. At the heart of the story is Liina, a young woman deeply in love with a village boy named Hans. Unfortunately, Hans is obsessed with someone else, creating a complicated […]

If you are searching for a hidden gem in the world of psychological horror, Channel Zero is the kind of show that sneaks up on you and refuses to let go. From

Imagine taking a wrong turn on a road trip and ending up in a place you can literally never leave. That is the beautifully terrifying premise of FROM, a sci-fi horror series that has quietly become one of the most addictive shows on television. It starts with a simple, nightmare-inducing concept: a mysterious, dilapidated town traps everyone who enters. Every time you drive out, the road just loops you right back in. It is the ultimate puzzle, and the moment […]

I just watched the worst movie of my life

Every blessed Sunday, I set aside three to four hours to prep for Tuesday's edition of Traffic Jam Avenue, which I host with my friend Chriss Casper every Tuesday on Lounge Avenue. This involves watching movies, recalling series, and finding interesting places worth recommending. This time, through a recommendation from a friend with rather interesting movie tastes, I ended up with Iron Lung. The story premise is a first for me: The Big Rupture, and I think it refers to […]

VIDEO: Nigel Stanford – CYMATICS: Science vs. Music

Years ago, back when I was hosting Sound of Science on Radio Guerrilla, I stumbled upon this visual masterpiece of a video. What you see in the video is called cymatics, which basically means visualizing sound waves. Absolutely nothing is CGI. All the experiments show how matter (sand, liquid, fire, electricity) reacts to specific audio frequencies. The Chladni Plate It is a metal plate attached to a speaker and sprinkled with sand. When the sound hits a certain resonant frequency, […]
