It’s been a really long time since I last wrote, which is an old passion of mine. I think it’s been at least 7 years, probably closer to 10.
I want to dive into this short editorial about my sanctuary, a place I love to retreat to mentally, since physically, I live in it every day. When the sun goes down and natural light is replaced by the artificial one, the introspection kicks in. I like to reflect on my life and how to find joy in what I do. It gets pretty tough on those rare occasions when the internet provider has an outage, because then I’m left in the dark. I really wanted to be able to turn on the lights with voice commands, but the downside is they’re connected to the internet. No internet, no lights, and that sucks. It’s also funny.
I turn on the aromatherapy diffuser with a few drops of a nice essential oil, put Lounge Avenue on in the background, pet Madame, my schizophrenic cat, and just write. I’m glad the Lounge Avenue website now allows article publishing, which means you can look beyond the music, the shows, and the radio. Now you get the chance to meet the people behind the Lounge Avenue project.
Tonight I watched a movie that I initially thought was really bad, but I decided to give it a shot anyway. Since it’s very well shot and edited, I figured there had to be something to it, and I was glad to realize along the way that I was wrong at first. The movie is actually good. I wouldn’t save it on my list of films to talk about years from now, but I can recommend it. Even though it falls under the dark comedy category, and I’m not a fan of comedies in general, I felt that a plot twist, or maybe even a few, was bound to happen somewhere.
It’s called “Send Help,” and its 6.5 stars on IMDb don’t do it justice. I think it deserved a 7, but not more. It’s a story I wish had been longer; I wanted to see where the situations that popped up along the way would lead.
Long story short, it’s about a socially awkward corporate worker who faces a lot of unfair treatment at the office from both colleagues and management. However, she ends up in a position of power over her boss after their private jet crashes into the ocean, leaving them as the only two survivors on a deserted island near Thailand. Being a huge fan of the show Survivor, she knows survival techniques, while he, a snobby Wall Street type, is at the mercy of nature. The story evolves very quickly in directions I didn’t see coming.
I wrote about it in the “Are You Bored?” section. You can find a trailer there too. I think it’s worth a shot.
